The six recipients plan to pursue careers in health care
At a recent West Shore Medical Center Board of Trustees meeting, six $500 scholarships were awarded to graduating Manistee County high school students, courtesy of the Clara Kraus Saari Education Fund.
The annual scholarship is available to Manistee County high school seniors planning to study a health care-related field. Eligible schools include Bear Lake, Brethren, CASMAN Academy, Manistee Catholic Central, Manistee Public, and Onekama.
The recipients submitted essays and applications that were reviewed by the scholarship committee of the Clara Kraus Saari Education Fund and then approved by the West Shore Medical Center Board of Trustees.
The 2010 scholarship recipients are:
- Kaitlyn Marchese from CASMAN Academy, who will study nursing at West Shore Community College.
- Logan Pachesny from Manistee High School, who will study nursing at West Shore Community College.
- Mia Orlandi from Brethren High School, who will study radiology or nursing at Ferris State University.
- Katie Lynn Prielipp from Onekama High School, who will study pre-med at Grand Valley State University.
- Ashley Rupert from Bear Lake High School, who will study pre-med at Ferris State University.
- Vincent Modjeski from Manistee Catholic Central High School, who will study nursing at West Shore Community College.
