Position: Supervisor
Facility: West Shore Medical Center
Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

High school diploma or equivalent.  One year supervisory experience in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required.

 

Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.

 

Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.

 

Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.

 

Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.

 

Ability to use working knowledge of working environment to meet established goals and objectives.

 

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Maintains a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.

 

Participates in staff selection process.  Interviews candidates as needed.  Schedules days off, holidays and vacations, ensuring that facility's needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.  Assigns personnel to established work areas or project duties.

 

Plans and coordinate project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained.

 

Ensures that staff receive proper orientation, initial training and ongoing education.

 

Ensures duty lists are revised and current at all times.  Reviews duty lists with regular and relief associates periodically.

 

Ensures that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals.

 

Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings on a scheduled basis.  Attends ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by facility.

 

Provides and monitors individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential.

 

Provides input and assists with disciplining associates when necessary according to progressive disciplinary guidelines.

 

Provides input and assists with monitoring associates attendance and take proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed.

 

Keeps records and appropriate log books current and maintain all necessary documentation.  Monitors service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action to client concerns/comments.

 

Provides input and assists with associate performance evaluations and makes recommendations as needed. 

 

Assures that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times.

 

Handles special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Assists housekeepers and janitors on an as needed basis.

 

Ensures housekeeping office, storage and closets are clean, organized, well maintained and professional in appearance at all times.

 

Maintains compliance with hospital programs.

 

Completes required paperwork such as quality assurance surveys, one on one training records and key user rounds as instructed by the Manager of Plant Operations.

 

Participates in facility Quality Assurance Program as required.  Ensures high quality percentage of clean is maintained in areas of assigment.  Performs Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned.

 

Assigns equipment to staff.  Monitors daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.  Ensures that all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times. 

 

Provides input and assists with associate disciplinary meetings, variance reports and assists with follow-up investigation as needed.

 

Responds to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and takes necessary corrective action including timely follow-up.
